The premise is pretty straight forward for a science fiction movie: in a far-flung galaxy water has become the most hard to come by commodity and a big, evil. This is slot is inspired with North Pole and the Pirates cruising over there. In a distant future scarce of water, space pirates get caught after stealing ice from a spaceship. Ice Pirates is Endorphina powered video slot with 5 reels and 10 pay-lines. When the jokes do land, they land well. The last surviving water. Improves upon each viewing. They are sold to a princess looking for her dad. Progressive characters. Hilarious comedy. There's a generally broad and good humour about the whole film, and the cast play it up quite well. The slight film tries some witless smart-aleck jokes, fails in its intention to be campy and crudely settles for being a low-level goofy spoof of Star Wars. A busy, bewildering, exceedingly jokey science-fiction film that looks like a Star Wars spinoff made in an underdeveloped galaxy. ''The Ice Pirates,'' which has been rated PG (''Parental Guidance Suggested''), contains dialogue heavily laced with double-entendre witlessness. A little movie with a lot of heart. You can tell.
